We carry out research independently and with scientific and research centres inside and outside the region, and offer analytical reviews of global trends with strategies for the sustainable development of farming.
We enhance the capacity of agriculture sector stakeholders, including farmers of all ages, individuals and groups across Southern Africa, through training and capacity building initiatives that keep them abreast of developments and advancements in the industry.
We create dialogue platforms on matters affecting agriculture in SADC and globally, facilitate national consensus on responses to global developments, encourage debate on key policy issues, and lobby for Southern African and developing-country views to be fully represented at international forums.
We mobilise resources for research and sustainable agricultural development, and build active links with universities, research institutes, lobbying institutes and international agriculture advocates through conferences, joint research and shared capacity building. We also explore viable alternatives in crop use and alternative energy to protect the environment.
